I have a new iPhone 17 and upgraded from a 12. I did the automated transfer that you do when you get a new iPhone and it has all seemed to have gone fine but when I plug the iphone into my windows 11 PC the songs that are downloaded onto the phone dont show in iTunes on my PC.
I googled my issue and came across this reddit chat where the issue sounds identical, however the answers seem to be around how to get the music OFF the new iPhone and onto the PC. I dont need the music to be downloaded from the new iPhone, I already have those files on my PC. I just want to be able to see what is on the iphone and be able to manage the songs and playlists on there.
The Music app on my phone is mostly how it was on the old 12, the songs are all there and play. However the playlists on the music app on the phone were initially there, now they seem mostly gone.
I use iTunes in maybe an old fashioned way, I have auto-sync turned off, I manually add songs to my phone and I create the playlists from iTunes on my PC. I also delete songs using iTunes on the PC. In testing this issue I have been able to transfer a song onto my iPhone and it play, and then delete it again, all using iTunes on my PC.
Maybe what I was expecting to happen just isnt a feature which would be a shame but not the end of the world, because I have done stuff manually all this time I have a iPhone playlist on my PC that I can move the music over, but I would have to add the playlists again.
How can I get the music currently on my phone to show in iTunes on my PC?
