I am using iPadOS 26.3.1 and am trying to add a picture to Keynote that has been recently updated. I click where I always did (in the first iteration of the question that was not the paper clip, but rather a photo icon. Thanks to you I know the paper clip now). But keynote wants to generate a picture. I have deactivated Apple Intelligence. I have uninstalled ChatGPT app. I am clueless.
I only have the workaround of going into my camera app and copying the picture. Takes a lot of time.
Update: April 23 2026
I can swipe down from the top of the screen and then select View/Customise Toolbar. Removing 2 or 3 of the new symbols will crash the app, but others can be removed and the paper clip can thus be reinstated. After the crash I consider this a definite and very serious bug.
Bringing up the paperclip without modifying the toolbar has become entirely impossible with the new update, most notably, clicking on the dotted surface beside the AI functions does nothing. Swiping also does nothing.
My system info:
My keynote version. I used to have studio but of course I cancelled:
My problem screen shots. After the March update my screen looked like this with no paper clip available:
Through clicking on “Search” I was able to make the paper clip visible and get this, which has become unreliable after the update in April (paper clip will sometimes just disappear and show no options).
