On an iPhone 11 with iOS 18.5, I’m trying to create an automation that will detect any text message that contains either the letter x or the letter y, then if it does, send a canned text message back to the sender.
I got this to work flawlessly for a single letter. For either of two letters, no luck. I don’t know the syntax. I suspect that a regular expression is required. I tried x|y which didn’t work.
I created the automation with SHORTCUTS > AUTOMATIONS > PLUS SIGN > MESSAGE > WHEN … SENDER: not chosen …. MESSAGE CONTAINS: x|y … Run Immediately
Then I pressed NEXT, then NEW BLANK AUTOMATION, then under SEARCH ACTIONS, I pressed SEND MESSAGE, then I entered the reply text TESTING between the quotation marks, then I long-pressed the RECIPIENTS bubble and chose SHORTCUT INPUT, then I clicked DONE.
Do you know exactly what I should enter under MESSAGE CONTAINS? So far x|y doesn’t work.
If screenshots would be helpful, I’ll post them.
