Our local ice ring will be rebuilt as an indoor ice stadion in the next years.
Now I did some test for tracking my freestyle skating sessions.
Normally I use my Suunto 9PP for those activities but as gps isn’t reliable inside it doesn’t work.
I now tested the suunto and the strava app for recording indoor walks but even while suunto at least shows speed, and uses wifi data for positioning the results are bad.
Since Apple has the Apple Nearby Interaction Framework I thougt maybe someone already experimented with Bluetooth or UWB beacons or maybe even with other iPhones nearby to get a usable position data.
I know there are professional uwb and bluetooth solutions but I don’t want to spend hundreds of bucks for that.
There are ESP32 and Raspy projects out there but I just want something easy like putting 3 beacons at my ice ring start the tracking on my phone and go for it. Just Apple like.
Maybe this could be usefull for many other amateur athletes training indoor too.
So maybe someone can hint in the right direction for development, or app that does well with indoor tracking.
